About
This is my small collection of antique Japanese sword fittings.
I mostly collect tsuba, and kozuka, but I have a few other bits and pieces that have appealed to me over the years. I tend to pick up pieces that appeal to me from an artistic point of view rather than by school or theme. This means that my collection is rather eclectic, but I have tried to focus on quality over quantity.
It all started when I was given this tsuba, when I was 15, by a very kind gentleman whom I knew during my schooldays. For many years it sat around in drawers, but my love of the Japanese aesthetic and a rather romanticised view of feudal Japan meant that I was drawn back to tsuba again.
My wife gave me this tsuba as a birthday present and opened up the prospect of adding to the seeds of a collection that has continued to grow over the years.
I am massively indebted to the people on the Nihonto Message Board for their advice and commentary, and I highly recommend the forum for any collectors whether you are beginning, or established.
