Fuchi Matchbox
Meiji Period
A matchbox (also known as a vesta) made up of a series of shakudo fuchi, with the top of a kashira acting as the cap. A striker for the matches has been incorporated on the base.
An interesting piece, showing how later artisans re-used older pieces, presumably for the export market once Japan opened up after the Edo period.
The wave fuchi looks like it could be Omori.
